Marble
Marble is a metamorphic rock resulting from the metamorphism of sedimentary rocks such as limestone and dolostone. Pure white marble is the result of metamorphism of very pure limestones. However the characteristic swirls and veins of many coloured marble varieties are a result of various mineral impurities such as clay, silt and sand which were originally present in the limestone at the time of metamorphism. Marble is a very hard wearing rock ideal for use in bathrooms and floors and can be incorporated in contemporary or traditional designs.
